START YOUR OWN EUROPEAN BOOK CLUB The New York European Book Club is a collaborative project  of 7 European cultural institutions to promote  readership of each country's literature in English translation. This program has encountered a huge success with European literature aficionados all around the United States. From the moment we announced its creation in 2008, we have received hundreds of emails and calls from people interested in participating or in learning more about recently translated books from Europe. We encourage public libraries and European cultural institutes to join us and start a book club of their own in your own city. By contacting us and joining the New York European Book Club, you will benefit from:
  • Our advice and experience for the organization of a successful book club
  • Our bibliographies of recently translated novels from 7 European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland) established by staff members of the institutes, who have an expert knowledge in the literature of their respective country.
  • A broader visibility by having your name on our website to advertise your new program to readers and prospective partners and sponsors
  • Free customized email addresses so you can answer requests for information and sign up participants
There are no costs involved in becoming an institutional member of the New York European Book Club. For further information, please contact Brigitte Doellgast at the Library of the Goethe-Institut New York: doellgast@newyork.goethe.org You, too, could become a beacon for European literature in your area!
